Silhouettes: Chapter 2

Hello and welcome back.

Oh how I would love to serve you some hot coco right now and a cozy sofa in a small cottage on a rainy day.

Anyways I hope this brings you joy as much as it does for me while writing.

Here we go!

ps: this chapter is from Janu point of view.

Chapter 2: Not My First

"Don't be happy by this small victory." Nikola announced with a little smirk.
Glaring into his eyes, I opened my mouth to argue back.
But he cut me off by closing the space separating us.
He moved his right cheek alongside mine, letting his light stubble prickle my right cheek in the process.
Which resulted in, sending a shiver down my spine as he did so.
Finally, Nikola whispered into my ears "I will get you next time."
I fixed my gaze on the tiles behind him. I felt like I was going to burst with anger.
But accompanying my anger, was another emotion, a sweeter one that I couldn't quite identify.

He cocked his head in my direction, staring at me one last time. I looked at him sideways, he smiled, and judging by how he reacted I knew I looked red in the face.
I swallowed hard, to which his smile only grew further making his dimples make an appearance.
How annoying is he?!!
He slowly and gently pulled his hand from mine. I caught myself wincing at the loss of contact with his hand. But thank the Lord that went unnoticed by him.
What the hell is going on with me?! Silly girl come back to your senses, a failed attempt into slapping some sense into myself.
His body brushed against mine as he started walking away, mocking me at how he won't be touching me again.
My eyes softened and closed. My nostrils was filled with his cologne, his distinct body odor, and leather.
Wait do I smell coffee?!!!!!
He hit me straight in the head.
Yes, I felt slightly lightheaded!!!!
I lost my sense of the current time and place.
His footsteps rang in my ears with each step he took. Not until they disappeared, was I snapped out of my daydream.
"ARROGANT"- I finally managed to shout out after regaining my posture.
I looked around and realized how crazy I seemed to the passerby eye and mind.
I cleared my thought and started "Meryem we will win this, I promise you that we will."
"I know that we will. I know you won't let me down." She replied with a smile.
My eyes looked sideways into the turn he disappeared into. That arrogant squirrel!
You will see who will win in the end, oh you will see.

I walked out with my client, smiling at her ever now and then. I knew the case is still going but we are doing great. I smiled at her one last time before bidding her a good day.

The sun was getting warmer declaring it was around noon, I took a deep breath as the wind gently brushed against my cheeks. My favorite type of day sunny with a beautiful hint wind.

That arrogant squirrel!!!!

I will make him pay for this.
I took another deep breath in hopes I could shake him off my thoughts.
"Don't let that idiot ruin your moment or your day." I told myself.
I looked ahead, then crossed the road into the narrow path between the buildings ahead. I opened my bag and pulled out my white sneakers.
Yes, sneakers, I can't wear heels for too long.
I laughed at myself while switching my shoes, imaging my niece's face at this revelation.
Oh well!
I threw my black heels into the bag, then began my stroll.
I reached the main road, then crossed it into the other direction.

"DAMN IT" a familiar voice made my head snap backwards. It was Nikola!!!!
He stood beside a car, definitely his.
He was arguing with a towing company, but it was a lost case. He parked opposite a reconstruction site of a baker, not very smart in my opinion.
Poor guy, not his day, especially after me showing him in court who the boss was.
I stood on the sidewalk opposite, the only thing separating us was Istanbul's traffic, secretly watching him.
He stood with his back to me, moving his right hand in frustration, while his left hand carried his briefcase and robes.

He had a royal blue suit on, with a lighter blue shirt, and a navy necktie with maroon stripes.
Okay, may be I did check him out a little while in court, how else would I tell know his necktie color and pattern?!
He also had pair of brown leather shoes on, which lost their shine and looked slightly dusty.
Wait are those?!!!!
No, no. NO WAY!!!!!!
He had a navy socks on with colorful dots.
Yes, yes. Yellow, orange, green, light blue, and red.
I let out a little chuckle while shaking my head a little no.
SERIOUSLY?!!!!!
The hot sun rays hit Nikola, illuminating his tannish skin.
He stood tall, moving his right free hand into his waist. He turned slightly sideways, giving me a better chance to observe him.
He took off his brown shades, wiping off the beads of sweat forming on his forehead. He looked down at his brown watch checking what time it was, before putting his shades back on.
He was well built, not intriguingly muscular, but fit enough.
I believe he exercise often
What a tough day on the guy?!
He turned in my direction and  I took a dip, hiding behind the bus stop on my right.

He pulled out his phone and rang someone. My bet it is his assistant friend Barish.
Even while shouting with frustration, his long adorable dimples appeared, making him look like he was smiling while being angry.
What a combo!!!!
He shut his phone and slid it  back into his pocket.
He bit down on his teeth, making his jaw even more prominent, as he saw his car getting towed and pulled away. Again, he looked at his watch checking the time.
Dude how much can the time change in 3-5 minutes?!!!
He looked ahead into my side of the street, while the wind messed up his slicked back hair. He ran his right hand in his hair, an attempt to smooth it back, but his natural dark wavy hair had it's own mind.
He moved his briefcase in-between his foot then threw his robes over his left shoulder.
He lifted both his hands, ran his hands in his hair and tugged hard at it, before placing them behind the nape of his neck.
OUUUCHHHH! I thought. Yeah, he tugged that hard.
He relaxed his head back on his hands and started taking rhythmic breaths.
His lips were moving as well?!

Wait is he counting?!!!!!!!!!!!
How weird!
Poor guy, honestly I feel bad for him.

In the next couple of minutes he manage to regain some of  his posture. He also checked his watch a multiple of times.
I wonder if he have to be somewhere!
In the end, a car pulled up in front of him.
He picked up his briefcase, opened the door ,and threw his baggage into the backseat with frustration. Finally, he climbed into the car. I watched as the car drove off, getting smaller and smaller till it finally vanished in the traffic.

I shrugged my shoulders and began my stroll.
I am going to the beach, in specific a set of stairs in there. They are what I like to call 'the stairs of life'.

I sit in there to think and wind down, also to observe the world around me. How people would act in their happiest and lowest moments.

They are only 30 minutes away by walk and it's a beautiful day, so I decided to walk the distance. I called in on my office just to make sure my schedule is cleared up, and it is.

I finally reached the stairs, since it is only 12 few visitors were there. Retired men walked around and few housewives with their strollers. The view made me smile.
I placed my briefcase on the stairs before placing my folded robes on top of it. I slightly pulled my maroon wide pants upwards before sitting down.

I opened my ponytail, then ran my fingers into my dark brown hair. I left my hair down so the wind could play freely with it.
I placed my hands on my lap, closed my eyes and took a deep breath. The sea scent filled my nostrils, and the crashing waves filled my ears along with seagulls flying around.
Today was great, I am going to win this case.
Yes, I am a criminal lawyer.
I worked last year alongside another older lawyer. But a few weeks back he offered me a position as a member of his team of lawyers.
So now, I work on my own cases.
And as a beginner lawyer, you will take whatever that comes your way.
I squeezed shut me eyes.
'Not exactly, is it Janu?!'
OKAY, TAMAM YAA*.

I only took this case so I could stand up against Nikola in court.

Well, Nikola hadn't changed from the last time I saw him.

He hadn't changed at all.

Sending you all love and lots hugs.
